Friday evening, June 18th [1976], four members of the Phoenix Astronomical Society presented a slide show and observing session for the public in cooperation with the Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department.
Ed Coughlin, Recreation Specialist in charge of the "Summer Under The Stars" programs estimated the crowd at North Mountain Park was slightly over 400 people.
The program featured observing with telescopes provided by Louis Boyd, Tom Muggleton, and Ken Sikes and an astronomical slide show and constellation identification presented by Gene Lucas.
